Food Waste

RR first began collecting food waste in a small pick-up truck from a tiny (funky!) neighborhood in East Dallas in 2012. Today, we're the leading collector of post-consumer food products for composting in North Texas, diverting close to 150 tons per month from local landfills.

We accept just about every type of edible (or would-be edible) under the sun, including:

  • Produce (Fruits & Veggies)
  • Dairy
  • Meats
  • Carbohydrates (Breads, Grains, Pastas, etc.)
  • Oils & Fats
  • Liquids
  • Compostable Cutlery, Cups, Tableware, and To-Go Ware
  • Sweets & Goodies
  • Paper Products

We accept food products 3 ways:

  1. Via our Community Drop-Off Center
  2. Via our Commercial Food Waste Collection Service
  3. Via our (new!) Residential Food Waste Collection Service

Please note that there is a fee of $1 per gallon to drop food off at our Community Drop-Off Center. If you'd like a nifty 5-gallon bucket (with locking gamma lid!) to help you store and transport food waste to our Center, you're in luck--you can pick one up at our Center for $25!

Also please note that there is very little tolerance for contamination in any Food Waste stream, so you'll need to avoid placing non-fibrous recyclables in with your food. This means no plastic, aluminum, tin, glass, or metal products whatsoever.

If you have questions or would like additional information about our compost program/processes, please feel free to contact us!
