F.A.Q. > What We Do and Don't Recycle > Do I need to remove tape from cardboard and/or paper products? How about paper clips and staples?

Type your key word(s) in here!

Thanks for asking! Tape can be left on in most instances, so long as it does not make up a considerable percentage of the material you are attempting to recycle. The same goes for staples, paper clips, sticky notes, etc. Items containing self-adhesive can pose a problem for the recycling process because when the pulp is spread on the screen, impurities can create weak spots in the paper. Bottom line: you can leave these items on your paper and cardboard products in moderate quantities, but we encourage you to remove them whenever possible.
